Position Overview
Vertex is seeking a highly motivated Customer Success Engineer to join our Customer Success team. This role serves as the technical liaison between Vertex customers and our internal engineering and product teams. You’ll work closely with Account Managers to understand customer applications and AWS environments, triage incidents, and ensure seamless deployment, integration, and adoption of our platform. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong technical background, customer-facing experience, and a passion for delivering enterprise software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
What You Will Do
- Serve as the technical interface between Vertex Engineering and enterprise customers
- Understand customer implementations, infrastructure, and deployment environments
- Provide post-sales support, including incident response and technical triage
- Manage and oversee customer deployment processes and onboarding
- Participate in customer meetings to provide guidance, address concerns, and ensure technical alignment
- Assist customers with API usage and integrations, offering best practice recommendations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success teams to ensure customer satisfaction and retention
- Identify and escalate technical challenges or enhancement requests
- Document technical processes and contribute to knowledge bases and playbooks
What You Need to Succeed
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience with AWS. Experience with ECS, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, and Autoscaling concepts will be highly beneficial.
- Prior experience working in a technical or engineering capacity (either in a professional role or academically)
- Strong understanding of APIs, with experience consuming and troubleshooting RESTful services
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills in a customer-facing environment
- Ability to understand complex customer systems and advocate effectively on their behalf
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Passion for delivering high-quality customer experiences in a fast-paced, startup environment
What Would Really Excite Us
- Experience working in a SaaS or cloud-native environment
- Familiarity with 3D visualization or manufacturing technologies
- Experience using tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or similar observability platforms

- Our team is distributed across US time zones and works remotely. We collaborate via Slack, Zoom, Google Apps, Jira, and GitHub. We aim to assemble in person twice a year for team-building and planning activities.

- We are an enterprise SaaS company built on top of the best AWS offers. Everything from Fargate, S3, MSK, ElastiCache, RDS, and more.
- Our primary data store technologies are S3, Postgres-based RDS, DynamoDB, and Redis.
- We practice infrastructure as code techniques and ship new code to our customers daily. Our tools include Github, Jenkins, CDK/CloudFormation, Lambda, and Docker.
